Brian & Greg

Brian and Greg took up cycling about 6 months ago after deciding it would be good fun to do Lands End to John O'Groats by cycle in 2008.We are reasonably fit and active (sailing, golf etc) but getting on a bit in life! Greg is nearly 59 and Brian 53 years old.

On the recommendation of Cyclopedia in Watford we bought Specialized Tricross Sports Bikes to do this 1000 mile epic trip. They have so far proven to be a good choice.

In preparation we have been doing a couple of 20-40 mile training rides each week, mainly in the Chiltern Hills and have been pleased to see our average speed creeping up, now to about 15 mph, as our fitness has improved.

We also did a 300 mile trip to Padstow at Easter, in pretty foul weather, to test whether the bikes, and ourselves, were up to the challenge. We are! It took us just over 4 days and we learnt a lot the hard way about how much to take, what to eat , how far you can go in a day and where to stay.

Whilst we are primarily doing this for fun, a good sailing friend Joyce Moon, who works for Age Concern in Hillingdon, asked us if we could help this charity by raising sponsorship. So we would be grateful for your support. We promise not to drink it!
